EDUCATION AND
HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
Education
is not something primarily associated with school or technical college or
university. It takes place mainly at home. Its really fundamental component is
the habit of communication established in extreme infancy, within the first
year of life before the child begins to talk at all. At this stage, the purpose
of education is to link things together. The separation of identity comes much
later. After a child grows up into an adult, he begins to differentiate things
and learn of their relative value. Again it is at home that a child learns the
basis of human behaviour. He learns to obey the elders. He learns to observe discipline,
as acts of indiscipline are punished. He learns to articulate himself without
self-consciousness and also he learns to consider and evaluate the opinions of
other members of the family. This is the reason why, those children whose education
has been faulty at home, turn out to be bad students at school or college. They
do not absorb what is taught, primarily because the habit of learning has not
been inculcated in them. They also turn out to be bad citizens since being a
good citizen requires certain traits which can be learnt in early childhood at
home
